Over a century ago, it was the large hall of the Kammgarnspinnerei (worsted spinning mill) in Augsburg

that was illuminated with daylight by saw tooth rooflights, now a special source of daylight within the newly created maisonette flats in the completely restored, listed “La Fontana Due” quarter.

GLASOLUX already replaced the windows of the saw tooth roof in 2020, during the general building work in the district, but now the first owners of the flats have ordered their blind systems.

The saw tooth rooflights allow soft, glare-free daylight to enter high rooms, while the continuous rooflight on the galleries, directly at the same level as the sloping roof glazing, provides direct illumination of the rooms.

In order to be able to regulate the daylight in these rooms, or to keep it out completely in bedrooms, we planned and installed remote-controlled roller blinds. In the living rooms, we wanted light-coloured roller blinds that only soften the daylight rather than keeping it out completely, whereas the bedrooms have black roller blinds to darken the rooms at night.
